The family of pilot Nail Erdogan, who lost his life in the airplane downed by a Greek airplane over the Aegean Sea in 1996, brought a suit against the Greek government and Greek pilot Thanos Grivas in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), demanding 2-trillion-TL compensation and prison sentence for the pilot.

The family of the pilot also asked from the Greek government to meet 4.5-milion-dollar expenditure for the extraction of the debris of the airplane. According to a picture recently published, a Turkish flag was drawn on the nose of the airplane of the Greek pilot after the crash.
