Turkey has been accusing Kaplan of attempting to demolish the Constitutional order, calling for jihad and planning an attack on Ataturk’s Mausoleum Anitkabir with a bomb-loaded airplane during the Republic Festival ceremonies. The court said that the extradition demand of Turkey was not suitable because there was a suspicion that the accusations on Kaplan might be based on his testimony taken under the pressure of police. Kaplan was released from the Düsseldorf Prison, where he has been imprisoned for 4 years, on Tuesday morning.
Schily: We are upset about the ruling
German Federal Interior Minister Otto Schily said that they were upset about the ruling of the court, which refused to extradite Kaplan to Turkey and that they would change the law, which prevented the extradition of refugees that threatened the internal security of Germany to their own countries, as soon as possible.
