Simitis said; We showed that Turkey overlooked the international rules and she saw that there was no other way but to harmonize with these rules. The EU candidacy of Turkey is the indication of the normalization in relations.
Simitis also mentioned his meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos in Athens, saying that; Greek and Turkish Cypriots should work in collaboration for the demolition of the wall. Turks should also contribute to this effort because such an action would affect the Europe route of Turkey positively. He said that the entry of the Greek Cypriot Administration in EU brought stability and trust to the region.
