Justice is Pursuing Contractors

On the first day of the quake, the office of the Chief Prosecutor of Bingol asked from the security to bring the contractors of the building which collapsed. Two prosecutors are carrying out work into the collapsing of the buildings. Chief Prosecutor Ali Erbay said that contractors will not enjoy any amnesty.

 

He said that investigation was under way intko the contractors, inspectors and the project designers of the buildings.

 Erbay added that 13 people rounded after the May Day demonstrations in the city, were released. However he said "Our invesitgation is still under way; either police or civilians responsible will be punished. "

CICEK: WE ARE TAKING MEASURES

At a press conference after a cabinet meeting since 10.30, Justice Minister and Governent Spokesman Cemil Cicek said that the government has set up a commission to deal with all matters related to the after-math of the earthquake including the construction of new houses in Bingol and measures against any earthquake and compulsory  home insurance. Cicek added that his government was preparing to amend the Public Tender Law to facilitate the bidding procedures and to construct homes in Bingol until Winter.
