Rescue Teams: 10, Administration: 0
Military and civilian search-rescue teams, which were experienced in the August 17 earthquake, arrived in Bingol from different parts of the country just 3 hours after the earthquake and fulfilled their responsibility by working continuously without having any break. However, the local administration of the city failed to fulfill its responsibilities. Citizens, who passed Thursday night outside their houses without tents, rebelled against the governorship on Friday. |

No more hopes for the school debris
117 students were rescued alive from the debris of the Celtiksuyu Boarding School, while 36 students and a teacher lost their lives. There are still around 34 students under the wreckage. However, heavy vehicles started to work on the debris on Friday because there is no more hope to rescue other students alive. |

May 1 celebrations held under the shadow of the earthquake
The earthquake in Bingol also affected the mood of the people celebrating the Worker’s Day on May 1. The celebrations in Southeast cities were canceled, but only the groups gathered in the Caglayan Square of Istanbul celebrated their day with folk dances, slogans and songs. |

Warning fire to earthquake victims
Around 1 thousand earthquake victims marched towards the governorship building in Bingol, saying that they wanted to get tents. Security forces fired warning bullets on the air for 4-5 minutes to disperse the crowd. There are still some clashes in the surrounding of the governorship building. |

Loizidu: I will not go to Girne Greek Cypriot Titina Loizidu, who fought against Turkey for 9 years in a suit she brought at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in 1989 and whose suit was concluded with a fine to Turkey around 500 thousand dollars, said that although the gates between the two sides were opened on April 23, she would not go to Girne until she was given the right to return to her previous home permanently. |

U.S. will lease out her consulate building
U.S. will reportedly sell or lease out her consulate building in Tepebasi after moving to another building in Istinye. There was news that the consulate building would be granted to the Istanbul Culture and Art Foundation and this issue caused a controversy because some intellectuals rejected to receive the building as a grant, saying that U.S. did not show respect to cultural works in Iraq and bombed them during the war. |
