Rescue Teams: 10, Administration: 0
Military and civilian search-rescue teams, which were experienced in the August 17 earthquake, arrived in Bingol from different parts of the country just 3 hours after the earthquake and fulfilled their responsibility by working continuously without having any break. However, the local administration of the city failed to fulfill its responsibilities. Citizens, who passed Thursday night outside their houses without tents, rebelled against the governorship on Friday. |

No more hopes for the school debris
117 students were rescued alive from the debris of the Celtiksuyu Boarding School, while 36 students and a teacher lost their lives. There are still around 34 students under the wreckage. However, heavy vehicles started to work on the debris on Friday because there is no more hope to rescue other students alive. |

Hurriyet published two different pictures, in which two firemen are embracing two wounded children and carrying them out of the disaster area. One is from Oklahoma, where 168 people including a 1-year-old baby had died upon a bomb attack on April 24, 1995, while the other is from Bingol, where a 3-year-old girl was rescued from debris after a work of 5 hours, but her family could not be saved, on May 1, 2003. |

At least 100 students are trapped in the debris in the Celtiksuyu public boarding school in Bingol, which is hit by an earthquake at 03.27. The columns of the building went down in the quake while the steel beds and locker held the building's storeys. |

More than 100 people killed in quake in Bingol
A quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale killed at least 100 people in Bingol today at 03.27. A number of buildings collapsed in the city and 400 people were wounded. The earthquake centered in Bingol was also felt in neighboring provinces Erzurum, Mus, Van Batman and the East Black Sea region. |
